Biography & Education


Robert DeLuca D.O. is currently in private family practice in Eastland, Texas. He has been providing care in Eastland for 38 years.  His rural practice includes office, nursing home, and hospice care.  He was raised in Fort Worth Texas and attended the University of Houston, graduating in 1974 with a bachelor's in biology. He completed a Masters of Science in Biology in 1976 from Texas Christian University.   He graduated from the University of North Texas, Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1984.  After completing a rotating internship at Hillcrest Hospital in Oklahoma City, he returned to Texas to practice.  

He attended the 1982 AOA House of Delegates as a student, the first-year students were invited to vote.  In the 1990’s he became active with the Texas Society of ACOFP, serving as a delegate to the ACOFP Congress, then later as a program chair for the state convention, a governor on the Texas ACOFP board, and eventually as president of the state society.  He became active with the national ACOFP, first by serving on various committees.  He became the program chair for the ACOFP convention in 2006 in Grapevine Texas. He continued as chair of the program committee, then moved into the chair of the site and convention committee.  In 2012 he became a governor on the ACOFP board, and eventually president in 2019.  Due to covid, he served an extra six months sharing that year with Dr. Nicole Bixler. 

He is the recipient of several awards including:  Sigma Sigma Phi Outstanding graduating senior 1984, Sam Buchanan Outstanding Graduating Clinician 1984,  TCOM Outstanding Preceptor Award 1995, TCOM Outstanding Alumni Award, T.R, Sharp Meritorious Service Award Texas ACOFP 2009,  Texas ACOFP Family Physician of the Year 2011, ACOFP Distinguished Service award 2021,  ACOFP Certificate of Special Recognition, 2024. 

He has one daughter, Allison Fraser, who works in oncology research. A stepdaughter Cydney Martin, who is completing her PhD in neurobiology at Drexel Medical School.  

Robert practices with his wife, Valerie DeLuca D.O. an internist, in their clinic in Eastland. They enjoy weekend visits to various Texas wineries. Robert plays guitar in a rock and roll band, named Docrockin.
